Strategic PlanningThe Head Librarian has a professional sense of what the specific school situation needs from its library. But you are onlyn one perspective on the challenge of building the best library program for your school. Establish a committee of faculty and administration to write a strategic plan for the library. Because the process can be challenging, an outside library professional can be a helpful guide to the process. You'll want to consider:
• What changes in program, staff or facility will support your library best as you look to the next 5-10 years? Specifically, how can you enact those changes? • I can bring in ideas from beyond your current structures to see new possibilities for the way your library can change to be an even stronger component of the total school program. Managing ChangeOnce you have a Strategic Plan, you'll need to plan the implementation over several years.
